Hey guys, I know I'm going to get laughed at, flamed, or whatever, but here it goes. Has anybody tried, heard of, or know anybody that has tried to install a cold air intake onto a dent? I'm not trying to increase my mpg or anything ridiculous like that, I just want my 390 to breathe air that's not preheated from the engine bay.
I was looking at the muscle car cold air intake systems/carb plenums that spectre sells like this one here:
I think they came stock with a cold air intake. I've only actually seen one hooked up, though.
It ran from the inlet on the air filter housing to the passenger side radiator support and stock on there so it would draw fresh air when the engine warmed up.
We'll right now I just have an open element 14" edlebrock air cleaner, and with the money to buy a factory cleaner I could probably rig up a modern intake of some sort.

Check junk yards. I can get a whole one for about twenty bucks. Just wont work with the engine I have.
It's hard to imagine any modern advances on a tube, though; however, if you wanted to build your own, there are some great cheap items out there. SCEET duct is double walled and cheap, lasts about forever and is easy to work with.
Comes in a lot of sizes as well, can handle some pretty good temperatures and can easily be routed however you want with some cushion clamps. Here's a link to some.
Here is the way they Mustang/Torino folks do it, I think? But we have alot more room.
Holy moly those are some sweet intakes. The second picture is what I was thinking of doing, but with just one tube on the driver side. I see no reason that one 4" tube wouldn't be enough air for one of these trucks...

Or...dryer duct.
Those secret ducts look cool, thanks for the link. As for the dryer duct, we'll lets just say that I'll pass on that one haha
