Power folding mirror conversion problems

I have a 2003 F350 and I recently purchased power folding power telescoping mirrors from a 13 super duty and I am having an issue with my install. I used the factory switch from a 08+ truck and it controls my mirror direction adjustment fine the heat and lights work fine its the PF/PT that doesn't work. I wired everything up including the factory ford relay, according to a diagram found on another forum that seems to be working for everyone else. My problem is that when I toggle the switch in the back position to PF nothing happens but all of the wires coming from the switch aside from the ground and PF trigger wire get power??? when the switch is pushed up in the opposite direction from the PF the PF trigger wire is hot. Also when I get power to the trigger wire it pops the #13 fuse for the power mirror control and nothing on the switch works and the mirrors have never folded in yet. My second issue is that I'm using the factory PT switch and when I try that one it pops the fuse I added in to supply power to it. I tapped the fuse for the power pedals to get power to my new PT switch and the PF relay. Is there something I'm missing here or is something faulty? No one else seems to have any issue with this install.

Try asking xmontex4. He did a conversion on a 04 to the 08 mirrors and had some problems as well.

If you look in your manual there are a few fuses not used and I added three add a circuits to the panel one for power extend( because I tried to steel power from mirror switch, but wasn't strong enough). 2nd for the power fold relay. 3rd for heated mirrors.

Hi Mark,

Thanks for this.

Can you tell me how many relays you needed to add to make this work? What year truck do you have?

I saw a post where a guy uses 4 relays but it seems to me that wouldn't be necessary.

thanks,
Dave

One relay for the power fold. I know when I tried to tap power for the power fold It must have not been powerful enough so I took power from the fuse panel. as for whats happening to the switch sounds like wires may be touching somewhere. double check your connections. 03 f350 xlt

The power extend doesn't need a relay? I would have thought that it needed polarity reversal to work as well.

Ok, I'll have to take a look at those. I am not sure they will fit. I guess I would replace my existing "mirror adjust" switch with the 08 adjust/fold switch and then see if I can fit the 08 extend switch?
