Rear Bumper Mounting on 52 F-1

I have a stock 52 frame and new rear bumper.

Question, do the rear bumper mounting brackets both mount on the outside of the frame tails or split the frame with one on the inside and one on the outside on each side? I would guess the both go on the outside of the rails.

This has the distance from the top of the bumper to the top of the bed wood at about 8". Is this about correct?

I had a Hell of a time figuring out how the brackets installed and which frame holes to use.

Thanks,

You are correct, sir! That doesn't appear to be a stock '52 rear bumper tho (no ribs). '48 - '50 style?

Thanks Albq F-1 and it is just a LMC special.
I had nothing on the original when i started, brackets or bumper.
I spent about a month screwing with the brackets trying to put the frame between the brackets on each side which made it impossible to match up with the holes, get the bumper the correct height, etc.

It doesn't matter too much as long as you can get the bumper bolts to line up with the brackets. On my current truck both are mounted on the outside but on a previous truck I had to mount one inside and one outside to get the holes in the bumper to line up with the brackets. It throws the bumper off center a little but is hardly noticeable...

Vern, doesn't a bracket mounted on the inside hit the frame's flange with the curved part of the bracket?

When I had mine mounted on the outside and inside of the frame I would have had to notch the lower frame lip to let the bracket drop down low enough to have the bumper vertical plus drill another hole and I think the bumper height would have been off.

Yeah, but some of the bottom frame rail can be trimmed to make it work...

I know of a particular cross dresser who used to grace us with his presence that split his bumper brackets around the frame. That's reason enough for me to mount my bumper on the outside like it's supposed to.
