Well I got it all back together and I had a few questions if anyone is available.
When I got the box back together and adjusted the play out of the worm. I am only using two thin gaskets I feel like since they gave me twelve of various thicknesses I should be using more...
the steering kit I bought came with a replacement sector adjustment screw/bolt but it is longer by at least 1/4"and has no keyway for the star washer. I used the old one but if I am honest it feels a Little short.
Sorry if we seemed to be ignoring you my friend . The gears don't look bad , at least from the picture . The worm gears were lathe cut not ground so they all look torn on the surface . New bushings and bearings with the proper preload and mesh then you will probably notice quite a difference .
No worries. I wound up buying new but when I put the new next to the old I relized old ones were hardly worn so I put them back in and will keep the new in reserve. I think the reason I could not adjust the play before was the amount of gunk both inside and out. The previous grease/oil was caked in some areas altar 1/4" thick. When I put it back on I'll know if I helped anything.
