76 Thunderbird 460 starting/running problem

We have a 76 Thunderbird 460 that has been swapped onto a 79 F-150 Chassis with a 71 F-100 body. Use it as an off road play toy as well as a competition mud truck. It has developed an issue in that it does not want to keep running. It is hard to start. Once it fires off it will shut right off again. Try to re fire and the same thing happens. If you use starting fluid it will run till that burns off. Same if you pump the throttle it will try to run but still just shuts back down. The motor is nearly stock. It has an edlebrock intake and 1406 carb on it. Also installed an HEI distributor on it. Ran great with that combo for a few months then began with the above listed starting running issues. We intend to rebuild the carb in the next couple days. Just looking for ideas on anything else to try. Kinda at a loss if that doesn't help. Any help would be great. Thanks in advance.

Fuel pump, fuel filter, fuel line, float level, carb/line/pump/pickup/tank contamination. Check fuel pressure to start, work your way back to the tank.
