Hello from Nebraska
I am working on bringing my old 84 Ford back to life after my 99 went down on me. I came here for answers, and have found this site to be great!
As for me, I went to tech school for mechanics back in 1989. Back then turnin wrenches was more of a hobby than anything. In the early '90's I started doing sideline work in my garage at night, mostly by word of mouth people just kept bringing me stuff to fix. After that started turning into too much of a full time job I quit taking on extra work.
I also used to build and race stock cars and drag cars.
Now, almost 20 years later I am again finding myself blowing the dust off my tools. Until last year I have kept to the newer more reliable vehicles, only working on stuff that needed fixed. I have never had my own cars to a mechanic for anything. Last year our expedition went down so I replaced the engine. This year my pickup went down, so I am in the middle of tearing that engine down. So, I drug the old 84 F250 out of retirement in the barn and am getting it going again.
At first it was slow going. I got a lot of information from great people on here, and my memory is quickly coming back to me on how to do things and how everything works!
I have never owned anything but Fords. I have had to drive the other stuff for work, but always come home to my Fords!
