Intake manifold ???

So i've been reading about all of the upgrades you guys are doing with headers and intake manifolds and i'm interested. But i do have a couple of questions.

If you get rid of the original intake manifold and use headers or EFI Exhaust, how does the truck run without the induction heat to the carb?

Or do you guys live in warm climates? I called Offy today and they recommended using the original exhaust manifold with there intake manifold for the heat. I just think it's interesting, and i'd love to add headers to my I6 for the look and the sound. Another thing they told me at Offy was that with there intake and a 4BBl carb i could get better gas mileage if i didn't use the secondary much. I thought that was pretty cool too, if it's true.

From: McNairy county, TN.
The heat riser is built into most tubular headers. if not, one could be made using the idea in photo.

Mucho info here on this Forum and here http://fordsix.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=2&sid=fa19aa444feaadc95d828af3db70 b30f. Use the "Search" features for water AND heat AND manifold and do a lot more reading and you will end up with answers to questions you haven't even asked yet.
BTW some of us have made something like this: http://autoparts.rasoenterprises.com...products_id=32
for a lot less than buying that set up. Search and read and ye shall find.

JMO there isn't anything a 2v carb can do that a 4v can't do better.

Harte3, i checked your settup and heard your sound clip... Nice...not ricey at all. You know your stuff for sure, very nice.

So it looks like it's not that big of a deal to use headers and an after market intake if you install a heated spacer. Anyway i've seen some pictures of both home made heated carb spacers and some that look like they were bought. Where can i find a spacer for heating the carb? Can't seem to find them on summit maybe i'm calling them somthing different.

The spacers are from Fords about mid 60's and up for a while and can be found in junk yards or sometimes on eBay. If you do a search on eBay just us "Carb Spacer" and scroll through all of them until you find a water heated spacer. There is another cussin and discussin about this subject here: http://fordsix.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=47939

I saw your home made job and it looks very good. Did you have to drill holes in the offy intake or are they the same holes for the log exhaust manifold?

Same holes as for the stock manifolds. Just use one manifold or the other to make a pattern or use a gasket like what comes with the gasket set that you will need any way. Outside shape is not critical...it can be square as long as the three holes are drilled to bolt up to the Intake. Drill and tap for the hose barb plumbing and your in. It just splices inline with the return line out of the heater box.

3/8 or 1/2 inch block of aluminum works just fine.
