They were in Arkansas and I have relatives in Hot Springs. They picked them up for me and then when I visited I stuck them in my trailer and brought them home to Texas......
Here's my solution to the seatbelt dilema when switching from the middle bench seat to captain's chairs. I took an anchor from my parts van's rear seat and using the same bolt which held it in place in the rear seat, I installed it in the anchor point spot at the rear of the side door well. This gives me the choice of switching back and forth between bench seat and captain's chairs and having the original seatbelt (made for the bench seat) work in either case. I'm comfortable with this because I RARELY have passengers at all much less in the rear.
If I were to have passengers frequently, and assuming I was going to use the captain's chairs all the time, I would run the anchor bolt directly through the clip. I am not totally sure that the set-up as I have it is 100% as strong as the stock captain's chair's belt. You can see a picture of what I did at http://community.webshots.com/photo/...50003818ZqtXdj
It's really easy ... you just need to remove the frame around the top of the side door well and the carpet comes right off because it is glued to a stiff backing and is made to be easily removed. There is a hole pre-cut in the backing and all I did was to cut an X in the carpet in the middle of the hole and snip a little bit off each of the corners in the middle of the X for the bolt to go through. Although it did not appear to be a threaded hole, the bolt which held the clip anchor from the rear seat powered in there. I removed it to look at the threads and make sure it was all legit and it was real snug when I reinstalled it.
Not to ressurect an old thread, but are you talking about using front captains chairs in the middle, or are they actually captains chairs just for the middle row? I need to get some for my wifes 93 aero....

There was an option for second row captains chairs that would connect to the floor like the second/third row bench does. You do have to modify the seat belt a little, but besides that they are a direct swap. The front seats will not work without heavy modification.
My '89 XLT shorty came with 2nd row captains (integrated belts) with the pass. side a non-tilt, which always made me scratch my head: how to access the 3rd row easily. Turns out that the tilt mechanism for the pass 2nd row captain's is an option in '89! I found the part number for the kit to convert the non-tilt to the tilt, but never got around to picking it up. The Captain's chairs have been in storage for six years . . .
Same van, the 3rd row bench is non-folding -- either direction.
Picked up another shorty '89, it had 2nd & 3rd row benches that fold flat -- either forward or backward. Kept the benches, scrapped the rest.
My '90 also has benches for both 2nd & 3rd rows, both fold either forward or backward flat, like this:
