10 or 15 minutes? All it amounts to is connecting some wires. 12V virtually no amps.

Dumb question? Mine 2005 6.0 already high idles when cold. Doesn't everyone's?

I get why you might want high idle for things like a winch, but why is everyone doing this?

You have to remove the mounting bolts from the fuse panel and drop it down to see the wires.
Here's a link to a good description for '05 and newer trucks.

Then, try this page.

Video - High Idle Mod 03-04 6.0L - Ford Powerstroke Diesel Forum

I think the high idle page in the tech folder for 2003-2004 is dead.

That link is dead for sure because that's the first place I tried.

BTW--see post #9 LOL.

I think Rusty and I are vying for the chopped liver award. Maybe we should add that to our FTE get together??? I'm sure Cheezit wants to get rid of that trophy....

Funny, I had skipped over the end of that page!

I think we need to have a new link in the tech folder to replace the one that is there.

I performed the high ilde mod with factory switches. I don't know if these work for '04?

If you want to make it look professional, like it came with the truck, use the OEM upfitter switches... The whole kit can be purchased for about $100 if you already have the electric brake controller in your truck. If you don't, then the kit runs about $130 because you have to buy the tray that goes with it. If you're interested, I'll post up the part #'s you need.

I ordered them from ebay. I received the switches, the relays and the extra tray which I didn't need because I have the OEM electric brake controller. It makes a much more professional look to the install. I used Aux4 and the purple/light green wire going to Aux4 of my upfitter which connects to the orange/light blue 10Amp switch wire. Instructions below. The hardest part is routing the wiring harness to make sure that your glove box and the dropdown under the upfitter switches closes. If you don't route the wiring harness properly, you won't be able to close either one. If you have the brake controller already there (like I did), you can get by with just ordering the switches and the relays. It's about $40 cheaper.

Followed this writeup which is 1000 times better than any I found on the internet.

I had seen a person that did install the factory upfitter switches in an 04 dash, but cannot find it. It takes some cutting in the area of the little pocket.

Someone else bought the lower dash panel for a 05-07 truck and put it in the 04 to make it easier to look factory.

Chopped Liver Award, lol. I know how that feels. It is kinda frustrating and funny at the same time to be giving advice and asking for feedback from a poster, only to have them completely skip over me.
