Help

I recently brought my 2005 F-350 in to the dealer because of the "no start when hot" problem . I think everybody knows the out come on here...EGR valve...dummy plugs..AND hpop pump....a nice $2500 + bill .
I have also been getting a "check trans.temp." alarm . Not all the time . I get it at start up sometimes and also when coming to a stop . I have felt the oil temp in and out of the cooler with my hand and it does not seem bad . I've washed the cooler off with a water hose...not dirty . I've had my transmission fluid and filter changed....by ford...and it has not changed . I was thinking it's just a bogus idiot light , but after this huge bill I'm scared to bring it in to them .
Any ideas on what it could be and what I can do ? I don't want to burn up my tranny......

They replaced the HPOP but not the standpipes?

As for the trans issue, I would suspect a trans temp sensor problem. Do you have a way to monitor sensor readings?

TFT sensor inside the tranny. I haven't done it but I've read that it's not a hard job to diy. Check the tech folder to see if the job is in there.

No they didn't replace the stand pipes...they said that would be expensive...as if the bill wasn't already high enough....and I don't have anyway of reading that temp....no gauges...truck is stock...got 100,000 miles on it.

69jc....I looked it up in the tech folder....pictures and all...what a great site ! Simple job....going to start doing that one when I get home. Thanks !
Hey Big Inch...the dealer ship started by doing my EGR valve . I had cleaned it awhile back , but they said they had a code that it was bad . Then they called and said it could be the dummy plugs...not to costly...or the pump...they said these either work or don't..or a really costy down pipes . Then they call and said they did the dummy plugs but it still had a problem...then they said only 2 things left...and I got a new pump !
Ford told me the down pipes were clear and not plugged...

It is rather rare for an '05-up HPOP to fail. It is fairly common for the STC fitting (on the back of the HPOP) to fail. Generally, I sell the STC fitting, dummy plugs and standpipes if any of the o-rings have failed causing a no start or long crank.
