Any of you guys ever took your truck down the eighth just for kicks? I was at the track last night, and the cost of admission also paid for racing. Well, I got goaded into taking the truck down the track a couple times since my car has been down for so long. It's stock, but I am ashamed to say what it ran, lol. Any of you guys have any 1/8th times?
I am a active drag racer with a 7.6 second 1/4 mile rail. I have run my tow truck, an 1996 F-350 460 Ci dually, in the 1/8 mile. It ran something like 10.6 with both tanks full and an extra 50 gallons in the bed mounted auxillary tank. I almost fell asleep before the finish line.
It's fun having a big powerful vehicle that just won't go too fast. Because if someone is like "dude, my car could totally whip your car" you can say "well dude, my car is a truck". I let a friend of mine drive my truck yesterday and was amazed at how it would jump when he touched the gas and put him in his seat. And when he tried to pull into a space he said "whooaaa time to park the boat!"
hmm. I have an 88 f250 with a 351w in it. Its a small truck weighing about 3500 lbs. Has somethin like 210 horsepower and 315 lbs or torque. Ran it in the 8th mile at 9.8 seconds. Has a 5 spd also. Its also feeding oil into one cylender so its not putting out full power. I was supprised how much that thing haulled @$$.
My buddy has a 351 ho/c6 in his f250 but his is an extended cab. Its also an 86 and weighs about 5000 lbs. He runs about 11.3.

Yeah, my 95 is a long wheelbase 4x4 with a C6, 31's and 3.55's. I figure its kinda heavy, including the ranch hand brush guard, toolbox, and tools in it. If I had tires that got better than a 2.36 60ft It should do better than the 10.6's I was getting.

a higher ratio diff should give you a better 1/8 mile time no matter what. It will accell you quicker and sacrafice your top speed and mileage at the same time.
Mine has I think a 3.83 gear. But I really dont know for sure. I read that was the stock for my year and engine.
I don't even want to know what my 300 6 would do..HOWEVER..seriously...on a roll i just leave it in 3rd and top it out and ill take some stuff to town
oh truck can be a bad *** tho..some tacoma or something wanted to go and omg i dumped the clutch and it peeled out so hard and then i go to shift and it squawked so hard..the dude just let off ..thats what i called INTIMIDATION haha.
