Stupid Question

I have 2003 7.3 X, do our paddle mirrors fold in and out via a switch? Also do they telescope in and out? The stock mirrors i have didnt work when i got them and I have installed aftermarket new style mirrors and im curious if and where the switch is?

You mean power folding mirror? No.

They will telescope if so equipped and fold in against the vehicle ...but both movements are manually done.

I was thinking the same thing, then I re-read his post: He has the paddle mirrors, not the tow mirrors.

So as usual, not a stupid question. In fact I haven't seen one yet.

The mirrors that I had where he did and Telescope to in-n-out they were the factory mirrors they weren't the small little mirrors that stick real close to the truck they were also heated... The new mirrors that I installed had a couple of extra wires on them and it seems like they are wired to telescope in and out electrically and possibly even fold in-n-out electrically but I wasn't sure if that wiring was built into my truck or not... Thoughts? They plugged right into the existing wiring harness and the top mirror moves by the switch and they hear up using the switch in the truck

Do the new mirrors have the lights on them? Wires could be for that.

Not understanding what you're saying here. Your first post states you had paddle mirrors. Which ones did you have originally, paddle or tow mirrors?

The new mirrors that I installed had a couple of extra wires on them and it seems like they are wired to telescope in and out electrically and possibly even fold in-n-out electrically but I wasn't sure if that wiring was built into my truck or not... Thoughts?
When you replaced them, did you replace them with paddle or tow mirrors? Were they OEM or aftermarket? Also, what year/style of mirror did you get?

Tow mirrors have 2 glass sections - rectangular upper and convex lower.
Paddle mirrors are a single glass mirror.

Both mirror types have options for turn signals and heat.
The turn signals vary by mirror type:
The paddle mirrors have an "arrow pattern" built in the glass.
The Tow mirrors (I think) have a light on the outer edge of the mirror, vs the LEDs built into the lens area.

Some do, some don't. Depends on which year/style is purchased.

My original mirrors were single glass lens with heat and telescoped manually... Paddles as you describe them.. The new ones I got from A1 auto are tow mirrors in the new square style with two lenses on each mirror and signals and heat... All work with just plug and play install and was a very easy install... Just wasn't sure about the telescoping and folding functions... Would be nice if they were electric too... I need to take a pic and post it for you all to see

They aren't electrical, they are manual telescoping and folding.

Did you get the '08 style mirrors? Those are the bomb. They are the style the Ex forum has been all abuzz about the last year.

Looks nice! They appear to be the 08 and up style, which I think have the ability to power fold, but you need the switches/wiring in the truck. I'm guessing that is the extra wire(s).
