'53 Ford Flatbed for 100 Year Anniversary Delivery Truck

Our business is turning 100 this year and to celebrate we have been fixing up this 1953 Ford F250 to use as an advertising piece to park in the lot and to run around town. We are planning on making a wood flatbed and have one month to get it completed before the Christmas Parade which we will be driving in.

We have all new chrome for it except hood side emblems. We can't find the boomerangs anywhere and nobody has the "Ford F250" only the F100. Getting them re-chromed was too expensive and was going to take too long. I was hoping somebody on here would have an extra set or know of where we can go to find them. Even if we could find the boomerangs that would help, the letters are in better shape. Please help.

I'll keep updating as we get the work done on the flatbed.

Thanks!

Mid Fifty www.midfifty has the boomerangs. You could ask them about the F250, they have some used parts where new are not available.

Thanks AXracer. I actually called Mid Fifty today after seeing the name on one of the threads and they are out of them. They had gotten 12 in back in June but are sold out and don't know when they will get any in. Carpenter is out as well.

You could PM Bill (user name: NumberDummy), he can tell you the exact part #s and who if anyone in the country has NOS ones on hand. I think you need to have 10 posts to use the PM and email functions, so tell us a little bit about your truck in each of 8 more quick posts.

Looks great. I have the same truck without the dual rear wheels. My side hood emblems aren't much better than yours. Maybe sand, fill and paint with chrome paint as a temporary measure until you find decent replacements. I hope to have mine on the road again by next spring.
Did you have any trouble finding replacement rear brake drums? What about the emergency brake pad (assuming it is the transmission mounted style on a 4-speed). I need both these items but have not found them.

If you can't find good F250 emblems, you could go with F-100's.... Who in the parade route would know?

Sorry, I'd rather see pitted, or prefferably silver painted f250 emblems. I always look at the hood emblems, and I would know. Probably just me though. Not like it would ruin the parade or anything . I say bust out the rustoleum 'brite coat' until you find the correct ones for your eight lug truck

That is a great looking truck!! Maybe you could just temporarily paint them with some "chrome" paint. It doesn't look too bad from 20 feet and might get you through the parade.
Or, put your company logo with 100 years on a banner over the missing emblems spot.

Thanks, everybody. I am going to check into all the tips you gave me on the hood side emblems. I'll let you know how it pans out.

In the meantime, here are some pics of the truck before we started:

Fill and paint the side spears black like the bumper for now.
Black looks good on that red.

I tried C&G and Green sales on the side emblems...nothing doing.
