Thought about it. But considering there was 2 jeeps there running them an smoked one best he could get was a 8.1 an ran almost as good as.other with a 6.3 an he's got enough engine he's running a 4v 750 ontop of it...
The 5.4 can get lightning supercharger n what not. That 5.0 isn't a good choise for such a heavy rig. Some people even thought about the Eco boost for a swap. Stupid IMO.
Yeah I know the low end torque is lacking but what about the coyote they put in f150s?
Ive been looking into getting an x and I dont care for the heuis at all, but I want something that can get out of its way and has aftermarket support but the 6.8 doesn't have all that much for it
Meh I can see headers for high RPM. I'm against tunes unless the hard mods are there first, i've seen too many blow'd up engines to justify tunes. Did you swap in a 3v 6.8 or do you have a 2v?
I respect your opinion about CAI's, but the costs of maintenance in MAF's and the initial cost is hard to justify one. Even on a carbd motor
I worked on a chev 5.3 that had a tune, when I pulled the heads almost every piston already had or was starting to get a hole in it. My first clue was spark plugs damaged from spark knock.
I will say that once you have hard part mods, a tune is a very good thing. But then the engine is built to handle the tune. A 180k stock motor is not ready for a tune
