PSA: DONT REMOVE THE NOZZLE
I would like to remind everyone, that in the event of a fire at a gas station, do not remove the nozzle. Run away, locate the EMERGENCY PUMP SHUT OFF button and call 911. Also, run away. Did I say that already? Do it again.
Reports are that his wife (who you can see running away) sustained 2nd degree burns.

Thats pretty scary, I wonder if the plastic bag had anything to do with it, like static I mean.
One thing that amazes me is how many people don't know how dangerous it is to get into the vehicle while fueling then get back out with a potential static charge and grab the nozzle. All the pumps warn of this but nobody knows about it.
On the other hand, most people think that talking on a cell phone while fueling can start a fire. I once read that there has never been a documented case of a cell phone caused fire at the pump, but there are plenty of cases of a static charge starting a fire after sliding across the seat while getting out.

Damn...that sucks. I am sure that the"natural reaction" is to want to remove the pump from the vehicle.

Maybe the PSA title should be don't flick your bic right next to an open gas tank you effin moron.
Darwin Award nominee for sure.
Gotta be a gasser the way the vapor burst into flame. Diesel has a strong smell and gets on your hands and sometimes your shoes at fill up, but it won't do that.
Besides all that, I hope the woman recovers soon and gets 1000 apologies and sincere efforts to make amends and it becomes a story to tell the grandkids.

Misdemeanor reckless conduct. I have to wonder if he would have playing with that lighter if his wife had not been around. Certainly is a candidate for a Darwin award.
