Hey Guys, I am baffled!! I went over a bump, and my truck just shut off some time ago. I followed the codes and the advice of many. we have 2 new injectors (rebuilt) a new IDM (rebuilt) and a new PCM(rebuilt) the truck runs and has NO CODES! however it is running terribly. I have a SuperChips tuner. with with a Performance Towing Tune installed creates an improvement over the stock tune. The best description I can offer is that it is difficult to start 10- 15 cycles of the key and a lot of cranking. Once running, idling is smooth, and low speed's are fine once she warms up. On the highway, a different story. it is as if the timing is somehow, intermittently too far advanced, and there is a strong Resistance-like" sensation. the engine is definitely not happy about it....... Does anyone have any clue?
were the injectors the same code as the ones removed?
have you run it long enough to purge the air out of the high pressure oil system? up to 50 miles of continuous driving.
great feedback fellas- a bit more information for you all.
the tune is removed we are @ stock ( i mentioned the tune because more fuel helped). the oil is brand new synthetic.
ICP? IPR? I am not sure, MY shop diagnosed all the required replacement parts based on the codes they received, and the BUZZ tests etc.
the truck is an 01. the buzz test and codes directed us to numbers 3 and 5,
As to the PCM's I have 3, the oldest (original) had a bad Cruise control and GPR circuits, so i replaced it. while diagnosing, the shop switched the old one back in, and they got different codes then with the other, So they asked me to purchase a 3rd one which is installed, and there are now NO CODES
I like the thought about the air in the high pressure side, or the injector not being right somehow, because that is how it "feels" like it is firing too soon or starving for fuel because the tune (more fuel) seemed to help. I just cant see how after like 100 miles we could still have air, and it's possible that a new injector passes the tests, but somehow doesn't fire right, how do I rule out the injectors w/o taking them out and getting new ones?
Remove the connector for the ICP sensor and start the truck. You'll get a code from this, but it's OK... this is the proper procedure for testing your ICP sensor. While the connector is off, look in there for oil. If oil is in there, blast it with electrical contact cleaner and see if that helps temporarily... before you replace the sensor.
Of course we got the p 1280 ICP out of range when we disconnected the sensor too. the drying of the inside of the sensor and the reconnecting did not help.
the p0603 has popped up a time or 2 before, could this be my issue?

Blow that one off. Did you interrupt your battery power?
WE are pretty close to Philly, I don't mind traveling a bit to get it to someone who is truly an expert with these, can anyone think of someone in my area?

I don't know if this is too far for you or if this is even something that they would handle but my friend has had his '02 f250 over there for a trans rebuild, injector upgrades, turbo upgrade etc so I would imagine they might be able to help or know someone that might in the area. http://www.hasslerdiesel.com
Hope it helps.

Did the truck start and idle OK with the ICP sensor disconnected?
Finally after 2 months, all has been corrected. SO the main plug that goes into the VC on the pass side had exposed wires in it, the bump caused a short, which took out both the IDM, PCM and all 4 injectors on the passenger side. To add insult to injury, I replaced the CPS as a matter of prevention, come to find out, the new CPS was faulty! John Kennedy Ford in Feasterville has a diesel guy there who is well versed in 7.3 nuances!! obviously diagnostic shop time is very expensive, but after 3 others looked at the truck, he was the only one to come up with the solution!
thanks to all who helped!!
Carl
Thanks for posting the solution! That sounds like a lot of stuff to go out for a short, but I know how it feels to get back on the road after a long struggle. Congratulations.
