My X has started shuttering in overdrive this morning. I have taking it out of overdrive and seems to go away , maybe a slight notice...... any one with any experience with this...
it did shutter one time at about 2000 rpm while power braking.... but cant get it to do that everytime....
I'm guessing you have a V10, if so.
1) check vacuum hoses (specially around the PVC area)
2) IAC valve
3) Mass air sensor
4) rubber boots
5) check coil
6) check plug
Chances are very high it will be one of those...
If your truck is not current on maintenance, could also be fuel filters or dirty injectors.
Yeah you need to post your engine type to get more help.
I had a "shudder" with my 6.0l diesel and posted a question for help. Mark (the transmission expert on the forum) quickly replied and said, and I quote "the problem is with the big thing attached to the front of the transmission". He was right, in my case my FICM was going bad, quickly in fact. After replacing that, no more shuddering. It was the engine acting up due to the FICM.
Shudder? As in driveline shudder?? Possible torque converter....Engine shudder?? I think they listed most above. Good luck running it down. Let us know what you find, if you can't find it, these guys can get you there!

FICM? Can someone tell me what that stands for. I just posted some symptoms on the 7.3 forum last night.
I think my issue may be something like this as well. The symptoms are as follows:
slight shudder/hesitation up until about 50 mph then after that it gets almost unbearable until I hit about 80 then it seems to smooth out a bit. Right now I am not driving it over 50 due to this issue. I got it scanned and had p0673 and 74 show up but I know this is not a glow plug issue.

Do some searching for how to do a FICM test. Google it and you'll find some great You Tube videos and websites for testing it.
Post back if you need more help or post a link to your other post and I'll post back there too. I don't lurk in the 7.3 forum much since I have a 6.0 but I am very (unfortunately) familiar with FICM issues.

Yours almost sounds like a vibration possibly? Maybe U-joints?

Snowseeker, I initially thought that as well. I originally thought it had to do with my tires wearing funny when my hub bearings went out. I then thought maybe out of balance drive shaft or u-joints. I checked the u-joints and they are fine. I ruled out tires and driveshaft solely on the fact that this happens under load. If I let off of the pedal the issue goes away until I start to give it throttle again.
