76 460 Fuel Pump Question/problem
So I recently installed a new fuel pump on my 76 460. I went to start it and it wont start now. While looking at the fuel filter, it seems like there is only a short, bubbly burst of gas going through about every second whilst cranking the motor. Gas never fills the filter. Is there something wrong with the fuel pump installation? or is there air in the line? Can someone please help.

The one time I ran out of gas I had to prime the mechanical fuel pump before it would pump again. I just pulled the hose off the top of the pump and filled it up with gas. It started right up after that.
I've been meaning to add an electric fuel pump to prevent this from happening but it's been easier to just make sure that there is gas in the tank.
