heater
On the original flathead, the hot coolant came from the top of the right hand head through a valve, and then into a hose that connected to the heater thermostat on the firewall. This theromostat is of a "Y" design. The bottom connection on the "Y" is the hose from the head. Directly above that hose is the thermostat outlet. The outlet has a short hose that connects to a metal "C" shaped tube. At the other end of the "C" tube, is a short hose that connects to the bottom of the heater core (the "C" shaped tube points downward). Almost in line, and above the core inlet, is the outlet where another hose carries the coolant back to the engine. In the case of a flathead, that would be to the right hand water pump.
I am not familiar with the 351, but all you have to do is determine which heater hose connection (there will only be two) on the engine is the outlet one, and which is the coolant return. The outlet hose from your 351 will connect to the Magic Air thermostat at the top connection, and the coolant return will connect to the outlet of the heater core (physically, the heater core outlet is just to the right of the battery as you face the firewall).
From my understanding, Ford did this to help with cavitation issues at the pump. not sure about that, but that's what I understood.
Also depending on what year your 351 is, the bypass hose is a pain to hook up, its right up against the alt and smog pump bracket. Easy solution is to change the alt bracket to after market.
