Found truck
Spotted this truck while driving in town today:

VIN says 1975 2WD with the 300 & 3-speed manual, but it's a V8 with an auto. The guy said it was a 351. He said it "dropped the timing" which I assume means the timing chain broke.
He said it belonged to his buddy and he was considering scrapping it. I really don't have a place to put it, but I would hate to see it go to the crusher. At the very least I may grab some parts off it. I'd like to see what the roll bar would look like on my truck. It has the 15" wagon wheels like mine if anyone is interested in those (they're painted blue).
Who has experience parting out a truck? Can you come out ahead buying a junker like this and selling parts off it? If I was just going to pull a few parts, what are some sought-after parts?

Get the whole truck, that way you can part out the complete truck on the FTE classifieds. See if a friend can let you "store" it at there place??
Craigslist it in your local area (MS), and are you a Mississippi FTE chapter member?
You would be amazed at what folks need.
Bed looks ok, small parts like tailgate, tail lights, steering column, lots of interior pieces and parts, grill insert and outer shell. Front part lights and all side marker lens, visors ect....

I parted out a whole 78 F250 and came out way ahead. Granted, it had a older rebuild/mod engine, good 4 speed with new clutch, etc.
I pulled one of the doors, inner/outer fenders, and hood, plus all the interior parts. I've still got the door and fenders. Cut the frame in half, and scrapped front of frame, rotted cab, and damaged bed.
I think all in all I got $1300, and still have some things.

"parting out" a truck, for profit, depends where you live...
In the northeast it's most likely a profitable venture (if rust-free and bought cheaply)....west of the divide not so much.
Good sheet metal is so cheap here there's no money to be made (unless you're shipping back east)
Interior parts are another matter.
