If you want to swap in a diesel, might as well get a cummins. A John Deere would be pretty cool too.

I'm a huge Cummins fan, I just thought a Navistar with a banks turbo would be cool because almost everybody does a Cummins swap. A Duramax would be cool. I kinda feel sorry for the op. He's probably wondering why 2 random people are crapping up his thread talking about diesel swaps.

To the op, let us know whatever you do with the truck. Looks like a cool rig with potential!

Well .... I own two Ford diesel tractors, deere isn't my color. My brother and I use our idi , without a turbo, on our farm. Cummins is new to my thinking but interesting, may get back to you on that one........ Du r a max ????????? think u ns are completely out my preferences, just saying . but thanks so much for your thoughts.

I was just throwing ideas around. Duramax is a good motor but too many computers and electronics for my taste. An IDI Navistar is a simple motor with fairly cheap parts (for a diesel) and wouldn't be a very difficult swap if you would rather stay all Ford. I would probably just box the frame, throw in some 4x4 Dana axles, and put in a first gen Cummins with a manual trans behind it. Simple, easy to mod, and wiring is next to nothing. 3 wires to make that Cummins run. If your going with a diesel swap of any kind, check out www.4bt swaps.com for info. I'm 1955_Chevy_6400 on there.

Or we could reinvent the wheel, rethink string theory, win the lottery, and build every truck we want. In fact, lets get some more of this redbull I'm drinking, buy another crew, and build 2! Or, maybe we can

That's true. Let me rephrase, an IDI is good if you would rather stay all intended for ford.
