My headlights on my 1980 F250 will intermittently start blinking on and off. It happens after about 20 minutes of driving. It also starts happening after I switch to the high beams and switch back to the low beams.
My 78 F250 had that problem. It would happen quicker if I had the camper, boat or horse trailer and all of the clearance lights on. Had to replace the headlight switch to fix it. IIRC there is a circuit breaker on the switch that would overheat and pop. Cools off and resets.
I purchased and installed a relay wiring harness for the headlights. So far so good. My lights are brighter and my high beams are working now. Hopefully this solved the problem. I did also buy a new switch. I will hang on to it for a later date.
