Any idea where I may be able to find a brake conversion for an F250? I have seen them on the F100 but have yet to find anything in the 8 lug? Also, My steering has a ton of play. Where is a good place to start? I have gotten several different answers from a couple different people. One more thing; what is a couple parts catalogs that I can order to find parts needed? Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!!
Fill in your location on your profile so a nice member might be able to direct you to the parts locally. For instance if you were near Calgary, Alberta, Canada I have a complete disc brake front end from a 76 that I would let go cheap, cheap, cheap...
Thanks HIO, I will start browsing the salvage yard. Also, I saw a thread from the project your working on...one word! Awesome!!
Thanks.
Btw, you're new around here so lemme provide some research tips Order up some catalogs and use them for reference. The exploded parts diagrams help but also the part numbers that are listed. Comparing PNs btwn years and series (67-72 and 73-79) can lead you to deduce their interchangeability.

For the steering start with the steering coupler joint (or rag joint in some circles) it's a large fiber washer that is in the steering column. I believe it is physically located under the master cylinder. They wear out and are replaceable fairly easy. If that doesn't completely eliminate the play go to the steering box and locate a nut (about 3/4") that appears to have a stud with a flat screw head on it. With a screwdriver hold the stud and back off the lock nut. As you slowly rock the steering column back and forth slowly tighten the stud taking the slack out of the steering. Hold the stud again and tighten the locknut. Be CAREFUL if you overtighten the stud it will be very hard to steer.

Trail_Rider Thank you for the heads up. I have not had a chance to get under the hood the last couple of weeks. I will try and get some wrench time this weekend

The process is the same regardless of what the truck is, just make sure to record the vin and GVW info from your donor truck to make parts replacement easier later.
The yard over by the concrete plant should have a couple of 73-79 trucks, but thankfully it's been almost five years since I lived in the area so I have no idea what's there now. Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market is a junkyard network, you can look up what you want to see if there is a truck in a yard nearby.
