Jag, there is an easy way to find the Julie thread. Hint: it has a lot of views. I will do the decent thing and not post the link here or post in the thread. (it's tempting sometimes to bring it up though.)
Jag, I would have thought you had been around long enough to have lived thru the "Julie" debacle.
AX, you know we can't let a thread like this die quietly. If we were normal folk, we wouldn't be here.
That's another pet peeve, you can't delete your own posts when they go sideways...
Next time this happens to someone try hitting the back button on the browser. Depending on how the web site handles things, it might bring it back for you.
I tried that, used to work, doesn't anymore. Even that used to help and was better.
Also AX, your long thought out posts are extremely helpful to us knowledge challenged folk. So don't let this deter you. Shoot, even your short quick posts are more helpful than many.
Thanks, I won't, I just got really frustrated, I had worked hard on that post to make it as informative as possible since metal shaping is near and dear to my heart. I had woke up after only 3 hrs sleep last night, and my dog got sick on her stomach just before I tried to post it. I couldn't get mad at her, she couldn't help it and she had tried to get to the back door before upchucking.
GB, I really am blue, I was in disguise in the fab thread!
That's too bad. Your posts provide some great information.
I wondered where Julie went ... been gone a while and just started lurking again.
In fairness to the site programmers, this site is been around a while and has grown a lot, and the site changed owners so the programmer(s) that made all the changes may not be the same ones that maintain it now. Old code, lots of changes, and new programmers makes for an interesting situation. But still, every time i launch this site my laptop fan kicks in to high.
Every time I compose a long post such as in my build thread, just before hitting the submit button, I highlight the whole text, right click and select copy. Then submit. If it boots you out, open it again, right click, paste and it's all back.

You win, that's a very good way to ensure you don't throw it in the trash can. I'll be sending you some reps as soon as my 24 hours are up.
Frank,
I don't think Julie is back, at least not without changing IDs again, even he/she isn't that bold IMHO, some new users are resurrecting years old topics looking for info without checking the post dates and/or assuming members from years ago are still here.
You very likely right, but unless someone points out an issue, programmers follow a "if it ain't broken don't fix it" philosophy (given the problems that software revisions typically exhibit, that isn't necessarily a bad thing!). Since I can't delete my rant I can only hope the powers to be see it as constructive criticism.
Ax, I was one of Julie's biggest readers. She was great at helping people. However, my time has been scarce over the last year so I have not been around as much as usual. I'll look around and see if I can find the posts in question. Jag
The logging you out thing, do you have to log in everytime you come to this site?
Cause I think you're experiencing a browser issue. Mine is automatically logged in all the time (ie, when I first open the window/tab) so I've never had that issue.
P.S., do you have yahoo email? I like composing long posts in yahoo (or copy/pasting into yahoo when I start on a tangent) because yahoo will periodically save the drafts as you're writing. Which I've found to be helpful if not just the site crashes, but the computer. (or, the battery dies without me paying attention.)

IIRC, it wasn't that he/she just bitched, it was what she/he bitched about, along with being reluctantly allowed to return as his alter-ego after the first banning for the same reason.
Jag you've evidently been gone longer than you think, Dan/Julie's last banning was a couple years ago now.
POS F500, yes I have to log in any time I'm idle for more than about 20-30 minutes and every time I open this site. I am using the latest version of Firefox as my browser.
