I would definitely check on the steel tank thing. They are very sensitive to biodiesel. Someone may have replaced it with a larger aftermarket tank.
I believe the OP says he has a plastic tank. He thought maybe people were saying that it is steel inside the plastic. I don't believe that is true right?
It was my understanding that only F550 and up have steel tanks which would be cab and chassis, there is a metal plate that protects the bottom of the tank but the tank itself is plastic. I would find a mechanical gauge and check your fuel pressure that way, just go to a hydraulic shop and have them make a hose long enough to reach from where your sensor is mounted to your windshield wipers and run the hose though the opening between the cab side of the hood and firewall and close the hood down just not all the way so you don't pinch the hose and take it for a drive while watching the pressure. Just make sure you run the hose straight down and cycle the pump a few times to make sure there are no air pockets in the hose before you start the test. My bet is the fuel pump is going south as that is exactly how mine acted ( fuel pressure wise ) when my fuel pump went out.

Correct, no steel inside the plastic.
I was talking to MCrafty and corrected my post to reflect that. My bad.
How are you checking the fuel pressure?
My son had the cheaper Glow shift gauges and he had three sending units fail for the fuel pressure they sent him all new better gauges all we had to pay for was to sent the old ones back.

I can find out details when he gets home from school but the first set you could change the color of the light the new ones you cant and the new ones have a digital read out on it along with the pointer. the sending units are much smaller with the new gauges and just seem better, they have been in for about a month with no problems yet.

I think those are the Max Tow/Haul gauges. They have analog and digital gauge built in.
Im watching my fuel pressure with Isspro EVII gauge. Pressure is up at 65 after I changed filters yesterday. Stays above 50psi when driving unless putting a load on motor then drops down to 25 & lower.
So for now Im driving it to get the fuel out & then drop the tank this wknd to check the pickup tube & screens. I'll look into fuel pump if screens arent the issue.
He was saying CAB & CHASSIS... I'm not saying he's right, just clarifying what he said. If your F250 has a bed on it, then it should have a plastic tank unless someone converted it. Also, I believe the F450's and up have steel tanks too?
I just double checked and my truck DOES have a plastic tank, It is a 07 350 CCSB so it is most likely original equipment?.....and of so this is a good thing?

Thanks for the reply, I double checked just now and my tank is the plastic one.....don't know how I missed that? maybe anyway I believe that to be a positive, again thanks. Mcrafty1
If the pressure was dropping when the fuel tank was full, then a problem with the pickup in the tank is very unlikely. It sounds like you have a weak pump or a bad regulator.
