You guys seem to think, my wife is trained wrong . Don't you remember your grandfather and the way he ruled the roost , You want a old Ford truck because things where better then . So where the wife's . Anyone who lived in the fifties will tell you that was the best time in this country . That's when wives stayed home and took care of their family's . Remember also God made Adam then made Eve as an after thought . { PLEASE DON"T SHOW THIS TO MY WIFE }

Why wouldn't you want your wife to see this? You just said what you know to be correct.

Actually my grandfather was a real sweet heart. He did things like demand his supper hot and ready for him on the table after work even though he might stop off with a buddy for a beer after work and come home an hour late. He never called my grandmother. He also demanded that there was a formal dinner every Sunday with my grandmother dressed in her Sunday best. My favorite was when he invited his co-worker over one day. My grandparents lived in a long house with the living room in the front and the kitchen at the back of the house with the dining room in the middle. He'd always have my grandmother running around waiting on him. This particular time he and his friend were in the living room, my grandmother was busy in the kitchen. He started yelling for my grandmother and when she finally came running into the living room he told her to hand him his cigarettes sitting on the table next to him. He then turned to his friend and laughed, "See how she runs for me?". He had other nice characteristics that endeared him to his family.
My father-in-law is just as bad. After working together on the farm all day they would go into the house, my mother-in-law would start cooking the evening meal and cleaning while my father-in-law sat at the table and read the newspaper. He'd read the paper for a few minutes and then mention to my mother-in-law that the room was too dark and tell her to turn on the light, which the switch was less than three feet from where he was sitting.
I like to think the old days were better and I'm no way a wussy Phil Donahue type but these two guys were/are something else.
I don't know, not everything modern is "bad".... (see pic)
My grandfather was also a peach. He had my grandmother hand-scrub his collars with American Family bar soap, even tho he worked at... a laundry. My grandmother's dying words to my mother were, "Don't marry a man like your father!!"
My grandfather was a real a#*. My grandmother was a sweetheart and must have been a saint to put up with him. Not only an a#* but also a real loser. My father was a good one and married a great one in my mother. Neither one of them waited on the other, they both worked their butts off their whole life. I do it too as well as my wife.
I don't know how all this relates to your build thread, but my wife and I share it all and don't hide anything from each other. She supports me even though I have had that truck for almost 3 years now and it still aint running. And I support her with whatever she is doing. It is the way that I was brought up, I wouldn't know how to sit in a chair three feet from a switch and order my spouse to turn it on. By the way, I grew up in the 50's and I like life right now much better! I guess that makes me a darksider somehow. Happy new year to all!
Just to make it clear , My rants about the wife are all, A ongoing thing started about truckfest time last spring . They are not to be taken seriously , They are dark humor , But sadly , To many men believe and act in the manor that I kid about . We have been married for 35 years and work and play together , and I hate to admit it , but I do talk to her about things I do . Then I get her permission , Before I do them . Other wise No cookies . The guy's that where at Doc's know what I am talking about .

Alright Dave, you've come clean now don't you feel better?
Guys I was at Doc's last year and met Dave's wife, she's a very nice lady. Even though I tried to test Dave to see how he had his wife trained to serve him it didn't work, in fact at one point Dave got up and got his wife something to drink.
Dave, you know, like you, I like to give you a hard time.
Now give her the wire brush and get her out there cleaning and prepping that engine!!
Dave you've been a good sport about all the teasing. I agree with Bob that it was nice to meet your better half at Truckstock. She is a nice lady and makes killer cookies! I hope she can ride along again in 2014.
OK, time to get back to work and post up some more pics of your teardown/buildup. You are making great progress.
Well spent about 3 hours today cleaning the bell housing and flywheel shield . I found a lot of old pit passes from the local dirt track , under the seat , So I think this truck could have been used as a push truck . Red clay mixed with oil and hard as a rock ,about a 1/4 inch thick . Needed to take a chisel in some places to beak it up. On the transmission cross member I used the air chisel , Some one should Patten this mixture , harder than epoxy . So that and fixing the battery box killed my day .
Finished up the frame today, rear end apart cleaned ,new seals and gaskets , oil , wheel cylinders, brake lines , master cylinder , all the way around . Steering apart cleaned greased, spring hangers cleaned and all grease fittings replaced , every thing taking grease , Frame , axels , steering box , pedals , brake drums painted . battery box painted and put back on, drive shafts cleaned and painted , trans cleaned , new oil, seals , gaskets , brake band replaced , Just need shocks and tie rod to be complete . waiting on the sandblaster to get pick up box, running boards , fan shroud , and front valance done . So looks like seat will get some attention tomorrow .
