First Excursion is on its way!

After several months of reading through this forum and a few months looking, I have purchased my first Excursion. Its obvious there are a great many passionate people on this forum and I appreciate all the help you unknowingly provided me in the decision process. My best friend has been encouraging as well. He currently owns a 2000 7.3 with 383k miles and 2001 with 180k, and he loves most everything about them.
Hopefully, I will not regret my decision, but I did by a 2001 Excursion 4x4 7.3 with 87k miles from New Jersey, and it has some rust underneath and needs some work. It lived in Virginia most of its life and has been in Jersey for the past year(same owner). I had a Ford dealer go over it throughly before purchasing, and they said it was very solid and clean, EXCEPT it needs a new oil pan. Fortunately, I was able to negotiate much of the cost into the sale price and I believe I got a good deal. We shall see......its getting loaded on a truck right now and will be in SA in the next 5-7 days. Wish me luck! When they pull the engine to do the oil pan, I plan on having a few other things done as well. Up pipes, head studs and I am not sure what else, but i am ceratin it will be more. Probably looking at a $4k bill, but I knew it going into the purchase. Rationalizing here......... I am replacing a 2009 Suburban 4X4 LTZ, that I owned since new and it was maintenance problem. I suspect there will be some rust work and other unknowns to deal, but I hope nothing more! Thanks in advance for any advice!

Congratulations and welcome to the forum!

I know what you mean by "maintenance issues" (in my case mechanical and electrical issues) with the Suburbans. We lived it also...

You have to use a sight like photo bucket and upload your photos to that then you can copy and paste them to our sight..
