I'm buying a 69 ford f250 4x4, stepside crewcab. I want to pull the existing 351m / 4sp and put in a diesel / 5 sp. Can any of you folk point me to any online resources? Have any of you done it? What is the best engine / tranny combo? I won't be hauling a lot of weight but I will be putting on lots of miles. Any info is appreciated.
It can be and probably has been done, but I doubt that anybody makes the parts you will need. In particular, motor mounts. These will probably require a little customs work.
I think the power-stroke motor is a great motor. Huge torque and good mileage. Get one of the recent autos or manuals that mate to it.
This sounds like one of those projects that go best it you get a donor truck that has most of the parts you'll need. Like a wrecked late model f250/350 powerstroke truck.
