Lightbulb HEI?

I have a 47 1/2 ton that I would like to add HEI when I do the restore to the engine.
Just wondered if anyone has headed this direction in the past, and can share any experience?
Thanks in advance.

I have what I think is called Rabbit Ears?? two groups of four wires, right and left. But I would think the guts would be the same?
I will take a look at Pertronix, thanks for the heads up.

They call those Helmet's...your engine may have been changed...regardless, if the parts won't work (I've no idea on interchangeability) contact Linder Enterprises in Ind.

Jim does some great work converting older systems with modern parts you can get from your local parts places.

Thanks for the info and tip.
I have a lot to learn about these old trucks.

For info purposes, where would be a good direction to look for a newer Merc engine, say a 53 or so. I understand those had the HP increase?

Thanks again
