Automatic vs. standard bell housing?
I am getting ready to convert a 360 to 460, I found a 68 f100 with 460, but it has an automatic. I have a 75 F-250 with a standard. So, I was told, I’m very skeptical, that the bell housing for an automatic would work with the standard.
Is that true?

Well most transmissions have different shapes but I have never noticed a difference. I suppose you could check and then let us know. I have never had to worry about bellhousings not matching, all my trannies come from a professional builder that puts them together for me.

The auto trans behind a 460 would be a c6 - the bell housing doesn't come off a c6, the tranny is all one piece.
Bell housings will interchange between manuals. If you want to use your manual trans with the 460, just get a 460 bell housing and clutch assembly.

Thanks 73Custom, I thought so, but I never want throw out what someone is so sure about. I could not remeber even seeing an stock automatic that had a seperate bell housing, I'm sure there are, but I aint seen a STOCK one.
