Im kinda new at this ,but I really need help...so I just bought this 91 f 150 its got the 4.9 six in it,5 speed manuel shift,so here is the deal,it seems to starte ok,but when you touch the gas peddle,it dies, and so if you start it again and rev it a lot it runs for a bit,but may die again.I have heard a lot about it either being a fuel pressure thing or the throttle positioning sensor, any good guesses?Im contemplating trying to test the fuel pressur first, then may attempt checking the tps,the last guy that had it said someone had put the fuel filter on backwards to get it to the auction house,am I correct in thinking there may be crud in the fuel lines?if so ,where would a knowledgeable person dis connect the lines to blow them out ? you can see why the help is needed...thanks in advance....
Checking the pressure at the fuel rail is a good start. That will tell you if the problem is forward (injectors and such) or backward (fuel lines, filters, pumps and such).
I'm still very new at all this also. I'm just re-typing from what I've read on a number of posts on this subject. There are some really knowledgeable folks on this site. I'm sure someone with a lot more experience will chime in to help. Good luck
