So, today I celebrate the first day of my 40th year working for the same company.

I really don't know where it went, but living out of a suitcase can make life a little shorter.

And tonight, I'm in Salinas, CA. Again. Whoopee.

There used to be a lot more employee (and company) loyalty out there. Today it seems like a milestone to work for the same company 10 years.

40 years? That's amazing. Props for finding something you wanted to do for that long.

In my career, since January 1981, I lasted a whopping ~10 years at one company, five at three, and about a year or two at several. The kicker is that I am, in my unabashed estimation, quite good at what I do. The DFW electronics field is certainly not known for stability.
Hang in there! You'll get used to traveling before long.

Congrats Joe! Not many people stay with a company that long. What do you do? Aside from travel a lot.

I'm a District Service Manager now, but I've held several positions in the company over the years. I started my career fixing copiers in 1973 with a different company, and moved over to my current company in October of 74.

I did a 19 year stint in service and then moved to sales for 16 years. I've been back on the service side for about 4 years now. My territory is the western 13 states, which is why I've been able to meet some of you guys while I'm "working".

Congrats Joe! It is not often that you hear of guys with a company that long what with the economy and downsizing and moving off shore....

How many more years?

Congratulations, that a real milestone. Does the company have many like you that can stick it out that long? I'll have 29 years at the mine I work at in a couple weeks, there has been many who have retired with as much as 46 years.
So are you planning to go the 72 years like the other guy

Wow, quite a milestone!
We have some people in my company that have been around for 40 years but they are few and far between. I've been there for 11 years and often wonder why....LOL

Congrats
Bobby
