Had my first cel at 1,300 miles, now at 2,000 miles another one, 700 miles later. That 700 miles was 400 towing and 300 mixed highway and local. It was the same code p2080,dealer changed it and it's back for another. The first sensor was loaded with soot.As recommended by guys here I try to get it up to temperature when in use to avoid soot buildup.Besides a delete what can you do to prevent this from happening so often? How far can you drive when it has this code, say your 100 miles or more from nowhere? In the winter this is my dd so should I expect this every couple of weeks?
Ok well I have no clue why your getting that code, but the owners manual does say to drive 1000 miles before doing ANY towing. Also, if yours is getting clogged, you can take it to the dealer so they can do a manual regen. The newer trucks can be optioned to include a manual regen mode.
Anyworth, doing a delete will net you more gain the negative. Plus if you don't abuse it you can return it to stock when you get any warranty work done.
I put on 1,300 miles before towing. In the 2,000 miles I have on the truck I've never seen a message about it being in regen, should I?
Sorry disregard. I am off today for some reason. Yeah, the messages are hard to catch. I have only seen mine TWICE. But I also know that going on the highway with it cruised at 60 my MPG should be going up and not down. My instant MPG also confirms that it's regen'ing.
Truck is still at dealer.Even though it has the same p2080 code again the tech doesn't think the same sensor went bad again. As Senix said he's going to start checking all the wiring to see if there are any routing issues, chaffing or shorts. He also mentioned that they first check to see if you had any tuning or mods done to the truck as they wouldn't warranty it.Anyone know how many control modules or computers are in these trucks?
Went to the dealer again on Friday and went in the back door of the service area to avoid the service writers. My truck had all kinds of wires and a laptop hooked up to it.I found the tech working on it and he is knowledgeable and willing to go over everything he has been doing. He thinks he found the problem. When they put the harness together they ran out of brown wire and spliced in yellow wire to continue to the sensor. The connection was bad enough to have too much resistance and has to be fixed correctly. This is my interpretation of what he explained to me. Apparently the harness is made in Mexico so maybe there is a quality control issue.Hopefully I get it back soon without any more issues.
