Binding during turning.

I know this has been discussed but I cant seem to find an answer to my particular problem.

99 expy 5.4 190K

Lent my truck to my brother and got it back with front end binding in turns, feels like 4x4 is on. I can shift it to 4x4 and l-low and shifts and works the same. I seen in my search to remove #104 fuse and I did that and there was no change still binding......now what do I try?

Do you have the limited slip rear? Some confuse that binding with 4wd binding.

I dont know. I know its never done this before. Horrible popping and clicking when turned and trying to move.

Did your brother use the 4wd or turn it on at all?

Is there a way to manually put it in 2wd? Obviously remove 104 fuse but how do I physically do it? Can I move what the motor should have?

The 104 has no effect on my binding.

I could pull driveshaft but is there an easier way?

Little more information. My truck went into this 4x4 locked mode when battery was changed today. Been stuck in 4x4 since new battery was installed.

That help anyone?

Have you tried disconnecting the battery just in case some of the on-board electronics didn't start up correctly?

Not yet. Did not pit 2+2 together till I was at work tonight. I'll try in the morning when I get home to the truck.

Removing battey did nothing so I guessing its a mechanical problem. Not wanting to remove the transfer case I chose to remove front DS. Wow should have done this years ago! Drives like a car not an oversized truck. Why did Ford not put a 2wd option on the dash. For 190K mikes its never been off road so I think I'm good.

I think after 03 it has always been the four position switch.
