Won't keep running

I bought a 1966 F 350 w/ inline 6cylinder at auction, was told it needed a new ignition switch. New switch installed and it starts but will not run over idle. Someone put a rebuilt carter carb on a fuel pump on and did a tune up, but like I said when I try to rev it up it stumbles and stalls out. The vacuum hose coming from the carb to the distributer has no vacuum. Looking forward to getting this old girl back on the road, was on the farm since new only has 18,768.1 miles .

First thing would be to check for a fuel filter, then make sure the pump was pumping ok, then remove the carb and go through it, float may be set too low.
