Nextel Cup??????
Well, at least it not the "Fisher Price Cup". Although sometimes I think that would be more appropriate.
I sure hope my Nextel rates don't go up to pay for this.
Jockey Cup
Hanes Cup
or
General Motors Cup
I wouldn't mind
Jack Daniels Cup
Bacardi Cup
but we know those aren't viable options.
But, yes, I do so terribly agree. I never thought about the fact that Winston was a maker of cigarettes and the relation with their sponsor ship of NASCAR. I used to smoke Winstons once in a while.
So, what is BUSCH Series gonna be named.....
O'Douls Series(Still have alcohol ties)
Pepsi Series
Coke Series
Milk(does a body good) Series
AquaFina Series
Perrier Series
Its sad, but all my NASCAR stuff might be worth something someday.
I think the D Cup might be a good name.
jbalestri - I imagine it's only a matter of time before they have to remove Busch as a sponsor also.
Ya know, Fisher Price Toys is starting to sound like a good possibility.
It could be a great slogan, "Not only do the drivers race in our events, but they wear our products."
Now, here are few based on Bubba's idea
Fredericks of Holleywoods Cup
Victoria Secrets Cup
But,NOTHING , will ever sound like Winston Cup racing.
Boogity, boogity, boogity.
Hillary Rodham Clinton for President Cup
Culture, Language, Borders Cup
California's Broke and We Need $50 Billion NOW Cup
We, the French, Thumb Our Nose at You Crude Americans Cup
Aaaah, on second thought, let's just stick with beer and cigarettes!

All I know is that I was raised around the Woods Brothers and the like and spent many a night in the pits and hanging with my dad under the hood of a stock car way before racing was considered a sport. For as long as I can remember it's been the Winston Cup and I have a hard time accepting anything else.
I watched Little "E's" comments, sucking up to the new sponsor, and I just couldn't even imagine Dale Sr. going along with this. Granted, he was all for the sport, but he was also for the ones that "brung him here".
It just ain't right...........
This is preposterous, outrageuos down right un-American..what will we be without the Winston Cup???? I think I am going to get drunk tonight now......Maybe we should Boycott ...see if they change it back?
In time we will get used to it you know it was inevitable.
What about the rest of em? Coors Light? I mean a helluva alot of em have got names related with alcohol...they gonna change all them to huh? And then there is my personal favorite..Mark Martin 'Mr Consistency' I mean, will they let him keep the name Viagra? this is some B.S. blasted liberals are taking everything away form us..we are losing ground.
Why don;t we go politacally correct all around.
Cuban division and Peurto Rican division sound good? I mean, it is hardly amercan or national any more anyways...who cares...so what if the names are part of the past time. I mean, everyname has changed...here in Little Rock we have the Alltell Arena what aobut all the other places? Every arena is named after a phone company it seems. This is really ticking me off.....Abnyone up for nuking california?

But with all the laws imposed on Winston limiting their ads, I can't blame them. I knew it was a matter of time before they pulled out. There is a lot of negatives with smoking and you will never see a driver smoking a cig.
Give it time and we will see.
I did like the FedEX CART series title but that went south as well.
At least it isn't named the Trojan Series or some other irksome name.
I don't blame Winston for pulling out either. I just hope that when Nextel increases my rates to pay for all of this, Winston decreases the cost of my smokes.
Wiz, I know that Dale E and France were tight, but I would like to think that DE wasn't that much into making the buck that he would have accepted this change after 30+ years without some deep feelings. I'm not a DE fan and never was, but I did respect the man and what he stood for - tradition, ambition and a love for the sport that got him to where he was. A huge part of that sport Winston.
I didn't start smoking because of auto racing sponsors. The "Winston Cup" has nothing to do with that as far as I'm concerned. I also frequent the Nascar boards and it seems that I'm not alone on this. Do any of you know of anyone that started smoking because Winston was the major sponsor of NASCAR???
So, do you think that the 50 mil per year + an addt'l 40 mil over 10 years for advertising includes the "Nextel Million" race (previously know as the Winston Million)?
