That's when you shut the car off and the radio and windows still work for like 10 minutes, unless you open the door

Ahh. So with the adapter the aftermarket radio will still act the same as OEM, without it should shut off as soon as the car is turned off?

Thanks.

There has been some really good information shared in this thread. I feel pretty confident handling the install along with the PAC-Audio interface needed to keep everything working.

My next item to understand is how to wire in the remote trigger, a PAC TR7, to override the e-brake sensor and allow vids to play on the screen while driving.

Lastly, I need to spend some time figuring out where the RES harness runs under the head liner so that I can bring an RCA input back from the head unit to the input of rhe RES.

From there, I'll wait for the best sale at crutchfield to make a purchase. Hopefully all of the new audio gear is released late in the year and the current Pioneer stuff will be discounted.

Thanks

Got a Kenwood KDC-BT952HD on it's way. I am going to try to install it Without the PAC adapter. Just the standard Scosche FDK11B wire harness. I know I won't have retained acc power, dimmer, vehicle speed , etc. But it should work. I will report back.

Is that a single din radio?

Well the wiring harness was a bust. The speaker and main power wires matched up, but not acc or powered sub. I guess it's PAC adapter time...

Some good info here. I was wondering what would happen with the DVD player in the back if you got a new HU. I guess if you did want to hear it through the speakers, you could just run a cable from the red and white RCA or the mini (headphone) jack in the back into the line in jack on the head unit.

I'm probably not going to install myself. Do you know if it's easy to run the line in port that is under the HVAC controls to a new HU?

And I'm thinking about going with the Pioneer App Radio 3. The one without DVD/ disc. Any opinions on that? Do Pioneers work well with keeping steering wheel controls functional?
