Clean out Warn Lockouts?

I have a set of Warn Standard lockout hubs (for the truck in my signature, 95 F-350) that I got locally. They were given to me dismantled, so the cap and **** aren't on. However, the **** seems more than a little gritty when turning, so I'd like to clean it out. How is this best accomplished? Thanks.

Mineral spirits. Simple green/purple power. Kerosene. B52. Pick your poison. It all works

I was looking more for disassembly instructions, if possible. I've got my choice of solvents here, but cannot find good dismantling instructions.

hammer and torch, they will take apart most anything. true story.

i'd imagine they are held in with some form of clips or snap rings, look closely and report back.

Tackled it blind, since I had no better guidance. Turns out they're held together with just one screw. Remove or peel back the Warn label on the twist ****, remove the one screw, the whole cap springs apart (best done **** side up with the thing on a table to prevent escaping greasy objects).

Your initial post was very misleading. I thought you were asking how to clean your hubs.

I posted the question a lot earlier, you had plenty of time to post up advice.

Don't know why you'd think it was misleading - I said the caps and ***** were off and that I was wanting to clean up the gritty **** action.

Glad you figured out how to work one of the most basic part on a 4wd truck all by yourself

I'm sorry you feel that 'posting a follow up' (something appreciated on other FTE subforums) after deciding the hell with it (when the best advice given here is 'use a hammer') is snubbing your precious ego.

Yes, it's so basic that the method of disassembly is not immediately obvious. (Screw hidden under sticker.) Also, other hubs' cap designs (which I am more familiar with) do NOT come apart this way. Warn Premiums, for example, have no screw on the face. Neither do MileMarkers.

How did the Warns look inside? Also I was wondering if you could take a quick video of you disassembling it and re-assembling it for those who are wondering the same thing in the future. There are individuals out there that could probably do it, but if a video was available would make it that much nerve wrenching. Thanks brother.

I can probably do it real quick later on. It's pretty fast once you realize the damn sticker is concealing the screw.

They looked pretty good inside, not terribly dirty or anything.

And to all two guys apparently flaming me, I'd point out that at least one user told me ahead of time to 'look closely and report back' - which is exactly what I did.
