Chip/Tuner/SCGII

So With talking to a couple really knowledgeable guys, I purchased a Scan Gauge II. Unfortunately When I got it, Plugged it in, And had 5 hours dedicated to programming it etc... It was broke...

So i Returned it.

I have been hearing a lot about performance chips with in cab monitors etc...

Can anyone tell me... if i do chip and tune my truck, Do i need to do a head bolt kit? i am looking for a tune that has a couple stages,

1. stock/ No tune
2.Fuel Eco ( Most Important!) (Q. How much better?)
3. Little more power just incase. ( I Feel Itchy )

thats about it

WHAT I WANT WITH TUNE-
I want in cab monitor ( Do not want without this)
Something that can read/scan pids( can do what the scan gauge II can do)
Something that WILL NOT DESTROY my truck
and something that is not an arm and a leg Expensive.

I figure around 200-500 seems like a decent price. if its less then it probably sucks, if it is more.. depending on how much and what extras it has may determine the dent in my wallet.

Thanks in advance to everyone!

I have am edge insight CS and an SCT x3 tuner with tunes from Matt at Gearhead. Before I had my truck studded I used the SRL tune without issues. It is more expensive than your price range though.

Sent from my mind thanks to the Internet and an app.

so for an edge i would need to change gaskets and head bolts?

what is an srl tune?

is a more expensive tune really worth it for a newbie like me anyway?

i have to buy tunes to go on my tuner? or is that just for extra? or modded tunes?

another thing to think about is transmission

Also need to think about Fuel issues

SCT Tunners are the Favorite Here keeps the trans happey

The head bolts are Hit n miss there was a Problem at one the factorys with torq

If your going to tune it NOONE can guaranty you wont blow the Heads off no matter what tunner you run BUT the Tunner Chris mentions folks had good success with

After everything I tink instead of buying a expensive tuner I will put a bit more money towards head bolts in the next couple of months and see what comes from there.
There is no misplaced power in my truck just want to make her better on gas and a bit more mean. In the next 6 months I will had new head bolts gaskets and all and maybe a tuner. The head set is about 1,100 plus labor. Seems fair to me
