If you can't tspe the wires up, and you can't find a pigtail at the local parts store, cut the pigtail off the EBP sensor at the base of the turbo pedestal. And splice it into the IPR wiring. Check it first, but they should be the same connector. Leaving the turbo unplugged won't hurt anything .

^^^That is a great tip! I'll have to file that one away for 'Its 2 am with 6" of snow on the ground, my freaking truck just died while I'm out plowing snow, and how the heck will I lump this sucker back to the shop?' Thanks Chris! Reps!
I've got a few injector harness plugs from an International 530E (same plug as IPR and EBP Solenoid) laying around. If you still need another plug, PM me with your address and I'll throw one in the mail to you.
Thanks for the replies and the phone call. My phone doesn't get a signal in my apartment, so I didn't get your voice mail until I left for work this morning.
I'm going to call the dealership this morning for a pigtail. If I can't find one, I'll cut off the connector from the turbo.
I'd still like to run a diagnostic test on my truck sometime just for the heck of it. I've had this truck for 10 months & 36,000 miles, and have had a few problems like this that keep popping up. This truck currently has 243k miles on it. I sold my last 7.3 with 400k miles, and never had these sorts of problems under the hood. I'm kind of wondering if Ford changed wiring manufacturers between 2000 and 2002.
Dude, save a trip to the dealer, Roland will mail you the pigtail you need. I can run by your place sometime this week with the AE and we can see what else is going on with your truck.
Btw, head down to the Texas chapter forum, we're having tech day #3 November 1st and if you're able to make it and bring some parts, we can get your truck fixed up in one weekend.
Ok, I'll cut off the plug for the EBP and use it for the IPR. Hopefully that will solve my problem. I'm going to try to get out of work a little early today to make this repair. I'll let y'all know how it turns out.
I have to be out of town on November 1st, but I'd love to attend a tech day sometime soon. I'll definitely be on the look-out for the next one.
This week is starting to look a little hectic for me. If this repair doesn't work, I'll need a hand for sure. If the repair does work, I'll need to move on to the next emergency. Maybe we can find a day in the near future to run a test on my truck so that I can be embarrassed about (or blame the previous owner for) all the problems due to the lack of maintenance.
Maybe I'm seeing some bad info on google, but it looks like the EBP plug is the same as the ICP (3 wires), and different than the IPR (2 wires). Is this true, or am I seeing bad info?
Make sure you are looking at the right pig tail there are 2 that have similar names. The EBP sensor is mounted in the front of the engine between the HPOP reservoir and the fan.
The second pig tail controls the exhaust back pressure valve and is mounted in the turbo pedestal below the spider.
A previous post said to take the pigtail from the base of the turbo pedestal. Wouldn't this be the pigtail similar to the ICP with 3 wires?
I'll just get to the truck asap, and figure it out. It's hard to see from 30 miles away.
The sensor(EBPS) is located at the front of the motor above the water pump and will have the 3 prong. The plug for the solenoid at the base of the turbo for the valve(EBPV) is the 2 prong. Another thought would be to purchase an injector wiring harness and have 4 of those style plugs, many parts stores carry them.
Well, I cut the plug off of the EBP and spliced it to the IPR wiring harness, but that didn't solve the problem. I sure was hoping it was going to be that easy.
