Power door locks

My power door lock on my drivers side door is not working. When you press the lock button or lock on the key fob it will move slightly but not lock. Does the same when locked. Passenger door works fine. What do I need to look at first??

Take the door panel off and clean the actuator. Also, check the wiring for corrosion. Mine had the same problem but was just not lubed and clean. Maybe something got spilled in it at one part.

There's actually a lock motor that locks or unlocks the door based on the current flow applied to the motor. If you pull the panel you should see the mechanics of the locking mech. May be as simple as cleaning and lubing anything that moves (or trys to move in your case) . To be honest, its pretty simple and you will be able to figure it out once you get in the panel.

I agree with JB, it could be something simple like your switch connection is dirty and/or loose. When you first take off the door panel you will see how the wires are plugged into the switch because you have to unplug the connector(s) to remove the panel completely. I would clean the switch prongs with contact cleaner and use dielectric grease on them, and snap the connection back together nice and secure. It might be as simple as that.
