mine is 8400# with out water or driver. 4180 on frt and 4220 on rear. Iam thinking about getting a D60 an making custom brkts to install using the 4 link that is in there now A D44 is only rated for about 3500# Mine was safe with the 351 gas engine in it but now that I have installed the 7.3 diesel Iam a lil over weight on the frt
Thanks Leo, the website seems to be down. Have you been able to get to it?
I spoke with the guys at Pathfinder and they say: All Pathfinder Dodge and GM vans as well as 90% of Fords have Dana 44's, they hold up just fine. I don't think you would need to worry about that.
I am sure that I will not be taking the van through the Rubicon so maybe it would be fine.
I did read that there were a number of Pathfinder coil conversions done on the E350 that used the D60.
It's funny, side by side you can tell right away, but not as easy from a photo.
Thanks for all the help everyone!
Meanwhile, I am getting ready to look at a 93 E350 4x4. Also a former ambulance. This one has the 7.3 IDI and a D60 front. It is still fully kitted out as a ambulance and I am not quite as fond of the later body vs the older one.
But the diesel, 4 speed auto and D60 front (not sure what the rear is). makes a difference. It does have the BW1356 transfer case (the 82 has the NP205) so that is not quite as tough, but again, I am not going nutz with the rig.
The Pathfinder guys tell me it is a D44 and that most all vans were converted using the D44. They say it is fine. Hard to argue with the 3500 GAWR for the D44.
