I'm still relatively new to the forum, but I know a lot of you guys on here know exactly what you're talking about when it comes to certain things. I am in the process of planning out a 2WD to 4WD conversion on my 1996 F-350 Crew Cab Dually. I found a kit from Sky Manufacturing that will allow the use of a 1999-2004 Leaf spring front axle instead of having to search and pay serious dough for the much sought after kingpin Dana 60 from the 90's era F-350's. My question is if I can find a front axle from a SRW pickup, can I simply swap out the front hubs/rotors to convert it into an axle from a DRW pickup? I mean is it really that easy? Or is it more involved than that? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
It may be that easy, this is probably better suited for the 92-97 forum. Another option would be to use the 99-04 dually front axle so its already set up. If your converting to 4x4 anyway you can just use the SD drive shaft as well if its long/short enough and get one of those conversion u-joints.

I thought about posting this in the 92-97 Forum, but I just figured since the year of my truck plays almost no role, it would be better suited here, considering the axle that I would be dealing with would be from the super duty series of trucks. From what I have gathered thus far, I would have to make sure that I snag myself an axle from at least a 2002.5-2004, mainly because prior to 2002.5, F-250's actually used the Dana 50 and not the dana 60, unless it was a DRW donor truck to begin with. I am limited to 2004 at the latest, because in 2005, Ford introduced the coil spring front suspension. If I can confirm that I can just snag me an SRW Dana 60 front and just swap out the rotors and hubs while rebuilding it, I will feel much more at ease, knowing that I didn't just spend 700 bucks on something that's not going to do me any good LoL. Anyhow, thanks for the information!

No problem, forgot that pre 2002.5 they ran the dana 50, personally I would swap out the rear axle as well that way you can run SD hubs and brakes which are bigger than the OBS brakes. The bolt pattern would be the same and the axles would most likely have less miles on them, not to mention you wouldn't have to worry about getting the front axle correctly geared to match the rear axle.
it is even easier than you think. for the 99 and newer trucks, the dually adapter just bolts on to the rotor.
remove the single wheels, bolt on the adapters, put the dually wheels on
