The C-6 is the transmission you want. The C-6 has a NON-REMOVEABLE bell housing, they made C-6's with 300, 302, 351W bolt pattern and with 429,460 bolt pattern. Make sure you get one that has the 302 (windsor) bolt pattern and it should work for you. -Ed
We have a C6 transmission out of I believe a 83 Ford F150 ... It came on a 302 motor, but the problem I am having is that the transmission will bolt up to the 302 but I cant run my 205 transfer case because It doesnt have the slot cut in the tail shaft for my shift linkage...Will an older year C6 transmission work... My transfer case is a 79 205...Any Help would be great...
Was that 83 truck a 4X4?? If so, then what transfer case did it have?? if it was not a 4X4 then you need to get the correct tail housing, the 2WD will not work. If it was 4X4 and had a 203 transfer case you also need to get the correct tail housing, 203 and 205 are different tail housings. The fine folks at Jeff's Bronco Grave Yard will be able to help you out. You can find them in the sponsors list at the top of the page. -Ed
With out seeing the part's I'm just guessing but, as long as you are sure you have a 205 your trying to bolt on, maybe it was not a 205 they removed. If all looks like it will bolt up except for the "slot" then is it possible to slot the tail shaft housing with a die grinder to make it work?? -Ed
