Longbed To Shortbed Conversion

I can shorten your truck, ive shortened numerous 1964-1972 chevy trucks as well as a few 50's & 60's stepside pick ups. I charge $5000 to shorten the bed and the frame of the truck. Once its done you can never tell it was ever a long bed. If you have a short bed "bed" you can save a few bucks. I shorten the frame of the truck in such a way where all of the structural integrity of the frame is maintained without any plating, boxing, or bracing. As well as it still looks like the original frame. All of the trucks I have shortened will require you to remove a section of frame underneath the cab, and you will have to relocate the rear cab mount, thats pretty typical on every conversion. This can be done with the cab still mounted to the frame, its pretty dirty work so be prepared for a lot of dirt and crud to fall on you, I always hot water pressure wash the undercarraige as best as possible. If you need a professional to handle the job I am located near the Sacramento, CA area. Email custimizr@aol.com Happy cuttin!!

Wow, just $5K??? That's a steal!! Where do I sign???

Dude, get real...

Is anyone really STUPID enough to pay that kind of money to shorten a frame?

Welcome to FTE btw: Where there are a lot of SMART people that like to spend their hard earned money wisely.

I wouldn't cut or weld on the 1980/1981 swiss cheese frames anyway.

too much to go wrong.

and there is a legality issue, some states require licensed welders or body shops to work on frames.

and $5000??? that's insane. IMO.

yea man, you gotta crawl before you walk. dont plan some crazy project untill youve handled some regular ones first. im just saying this because i remember being in high school and seeing people plan these crazy projects and take something apart and never put it back together again. if you want a short bed save up and buy one. just my .02

if you're not too in love with the truck, you could always trade straight across to a carpenter or plumber, etc., who could use the 8' box. you'd be surprised what people on craigslist are looking for. i got rid of mine because of the fishtailing that happened while going downhill pulling a trailer. shortbeds are notorious for this. i also enjoyed the fact that i could haul a full sheet of plywood with the tailgate shut, and pull a trailer. but, maybe you never need to use your truck for manly type stuff.
