Those seals have been falling out for years and many people just ignore them. They don't keep the axle from bouncing up and down.
X2 with this statement. This seal would not cause bounce. Its there to keep out the big chunks. If you often venture into mud deep enough to enter the tube then yes they are important.
Being I travel a lot of dirt roads it should help. Either way, I'm down 73 dollars for the new seals and an hour and a half and some experience, so I'm fine with that.
Only other thing that I saw that is questionable is the bearings on my hubs.
The orange bearing, I believe the outer(?) bearings on both sides has some play in it. Not sure if that's what's causing my bump steer and wobble or not.. cause we took them off and did the same thing to a buddies truck and the driver side bearing had no play at all, and the passenger side one had play in it.. but he doesn't have bump steer and any wobble.
Bump steer I kinda meant like when I hit a bump the steering wheel veers off in some direction. Might be using the wrong term.
Yeah, everything looked fine except that one outer bearing. Starting to think the tires may be bad.

Check your toe in too, you can check them by sight , tape measure, or a string.
Its the angle of your tires against the ground here is a picture to give an example. This should be from the front of the truck if I'm correct, just ignore the steering wheel etc.
Center of tire to center of tire (center of the tread will do) i believe, someone may correct me on that. I do not have the measurement that it is suppose to be though.
Correct, no that means that unit bearings are bad i believe because they will be worn and starting to let the tires wiggle around more. Which could be what the jerking and what not is because if the tires aren't held solid against the axle then one could occasionally get out of alignment and pull to one side jerking the wheel slightly.
