Cool CRANKS NO START !!!

Vehicle history/info:I have a 2008 F-550 XLT V10 Triton with 60,000mi, no problems and babied from day 1, so no pre-signs of anything acting up. I have run mobil one full synthetic oil since I purchased the truck......both air and fuel filters are new.

Stopped at a restaurant for 45 mins came out got into it and it wouldn't start!!!...... Cranks hard but not turning over. No CEL lights, battery starter and alternator good. Fuel pump is clicking on....disconnected fuel line and cranked engine and line has very good pressure coming out.......checked for spark and plugs are sparking great..... sprayed starter fluid in the intake and still Nothing....cleaned MAF sensor and still nothing...checked fuses all are good in cab and under hood....code reader doesn't detect anything because ofcourse there are no CEL lights on. Switched out the Pcm relay with the washer pump relay and still nothing.
Had my buddy bring a scanner by to do a scan and it detected like 4 bad readings in the throttle body area......he suggested swapping out the throttle body as that was the only one of the bunch that could possibly have a chance of causing those 4 readings. However, I am trying to figure out how the throttle body will cause a NO-START!!! Any advice ?

My guess would be the sticky IAC valve, blocking the air flow. Let me know how it works out.

Thanks for responding so quickly. But I do not have an IAC valve...... its fly by wire version so there is no cable controlled throttle.

I am confused how you say It cranks hard but wont turn over. Do you mean it cranks hard but wont fire ??

My first guess would be crankshaft sensor, Somewhere along the way something has to tell the pcm to fire the coil packs and that's not happening.

it could also be a bad fuel pump. check for fuel pressure at the fuel rail.

Ok...... today I swapped out the crankshaft sensor, throttle body, throttle position sensor and still no start. Fuel issue doesn't make sense because when I've sprayed starter fluid in it still doesn't start. if it were fuel related it would have started for atleast a couple seconds then choked itself out with that starter fluid. I swapped out the pcm relay......nothing.........I am stumped completely.....fuel pump is good.....fuel at the rail......plugs spark.......air flow is good....... I called the dealer and I have an 8am appointment in the morning.............

Gasoline engines need 4 things to run:

F - A - S - T

Fuel - looks like you verified this

Air - Not common, but make sure nothing is locking air flow.

Spark - You said you verified you had spark.

So that leaves.............

Timing - Crank sensor, engine PCM or timing chain issues are strong candidates.

I still think it's a bad fuel pump. Interested in knowing what the problem is/was.

But the OP did verify he had fuel pressure.

Delivered the truck to Dc area Ford dealer this morning 7am. I just left the dealer after 3 hrs of trying to diagnose it and still nothing. They ran a full scan with their computer and NOTHING. .......$118.00 for initial diagnosis........after 3 hrs and nothing to go on, the service advisor has two technicians on it now which they want an additional $118.00 for. I don't know........I will update when further info is received.

Just got a call from the service advisor explaining that they cannot diagnose the issue leaving them to believe that there is a WIRING problem which will cost a total of $800.00 to diagnose worst case scenario. Finding the WIRE issue is an open estimate as this involves unknown hours of searching. I just hope that this is it. I called around did some investigating etc.etc. and called them to authorize the okay to search for the wire......I could probably find a cheaper company to locate an electrical issue but having Ford look for it and the ford mechanics familiarity with what they are working on vs. a company that diagnoses problems with a different vehicle every time they have a job to do was the wisest choice. So hopefully this is it and they find the darn wire. I was promised another call this evening with good news so we will see..........
