I have a 98 Expedition and last week dumped a 14oz. can of 134a freon in the system. I used one of those color coded dummy gauges from Strauss Auto with the colors on it, and it said it was borderline low (about 25psi) so I put a can in and it went up to about 30 psi now it seems just driving around with the setting to cold and on floor&panel (not air or max air) that I have a whole lot of water dripping from the truck that I definitley didn't notice before. Is it possible the air is running even with the dash setting not on air???? Any clues or suggestions???Or is this normal???
With the engine running check the A/C compressor to see if it is turning with your floor&panel setting and then check it through each setting to identify when/if the compressor is running. If it turns in all setting the A/C compressor clutch may be stuck or defective.
Unless you have a separate push-button to engage the A/C compressor (like Windstar or current-model Explorer), then ALL Ford A/C units will run in every setting except "floor" and "vent" (or "panel"). Any other setting (floor/ panel, floor/ def, def, a/c, max a/c) and your A/C compressor is engaged.
well than i'm not so worried about compressor trouble since it seems to be only when you say it should, thanks again, this forum has an abundance of knowledge!!!!
