Anyone using Hercules ST's, e rated tires?

Well,
I know there's lots of discussion here about trailers and tires, especially using LT's on them.

I am still using ST's on my triple axle as I feel I need the flex.

Hercules is a marketing company that has Cooper Tire manufacturing, private labeling many of their tires and it appears they do the ST's here in the US.

Not sure if there's any difference in their own Cooper brand vs private label?
Anyone out there using their Power STR's, 10 ply with success?

Many choices out there and I know many have chosen Cooper.

Yes I have them, Dont buy them! theyre cheap tires. I bought mine almost two yrs ago. I had one blow out on our first trip. All six of my tires are starting to feather and a couple have a few bald spots. Pay extra money and get american made tires.

I agree I had a set of Hercules on my Honda Civic they didn't last but about 15,000 miles. I'm a big believer in Toyo tires, I have a set of E rated on my Dodge 4x4 2500, & on my Honda Civic. My Ford has some off brand Geo Trac LT off-road C rated but they are holding up great so far. I run pretty hard off road with them. I just remembered my Cargo trailer has a set of Geo Trac LT highway tread C rated tires on it. They have been on since 09.

After googling, if found a Cooper Tire brochure that discussed their relationship as a private label mfg for Hercules.
Some said the ST's were included but I did not see that for myself.

The reason I was asking, I recently saw an article that Cooper was being acquired by an Indian company and there was a fly in the ointment. The workers at Cooper's CHINESE factory went on strike to protest the acquisition.

Wow, lots of turmoil there.
I will look at other options now before going there.
Thanks.

Well in doing more research, the Hercules tire is made in China, both their D and E rated versions. It's stamped right into the tire bead so it can't be seen once mounted.
Also looking at America's Tire favorite, the Carlisle brand but they too are mfg'd in China, stamped near the rim just above the bead.
The search continues.

I saw a set of Goodyear "G" rated trailer tires on a heavy catering trailer which if memory serves me correct is a 14 ply rated tire. Hi $ but I bet they last til the cows come home. IMHO

I know several folks that have switched to Goodyear G614's. They are an LT G range tire however. If you switch to a G range tire make sure your rims are rated for the higher pressure which is 100-110 psi.

Kinda' sneaky stamping the country of origin tight next to the bead instead of the sidewall, where it might not be noticed.

Do a real good look at Carlisle tire reviews elsewhere on the net - not pretty. Maxxis seem about the best of the Chinese made ST's these days - but......

Find a good LT tire (Tire Rack reviews?) and you wont be disappointed. I'm currently using General Grabbers (Mexico origin) and so far work very well for our 5er. The BFG's Commercial T/As were my first choice, but the correct size was out of stock about everywhere, including local sellers. Michelin LT's are IMHO, even better, but priced way out of my thin wallet.

Maybe that's because Maxxis tires are made in Thailand.

Not necessarily - this is from Wikipedia, but Chen Shin Rubber/Maxxis corporate owner site has about the same write up though in many more words:

"At first, Cheng Shin Rubber, operating as Maxxis International, only produced bicycle tires. As the company grew and extended its reach beyond Asia, it expanded into new market segments, producing tire products for a variety of vehicles.
In 2009 Maxxis had worldwide revenue of over $2 billion.[2] Maxxis has operations in Taiwan, China, Thailand, Vietnam, United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Germany, The Netherlands, Japan and Dubai. The company employs 28,000 people, and its products are distributed in approximately 170 countries.[3]
The company recently built a design and testing proving ground in China,[4] and has five other research facilities in Taiwan, China, the United States, and the Netherlands'.
