Should I upgrade to a four barrel intake manifold

[QUOTE=Beanscoot;13621784]Beechkid, that was a pretty interesting post you wrote about your 2V engine (I assume a 289 hipo that was "Shelby-ized").QUOTE]
Not to hi-jack the thread
Yeah, it was really a one off build (Jerry Green a long time racer-friend of my Dad's) did this one at Shelby's shop .....in 86 I bought the car from my folks & did a ground up rebuild....when we tore the engine down it was a "mind blower"...
an aluminum flywheel with a FomoCo stamp on it; Aluminum forged pistons (again with either a fomoco/ford stamp on it (I kept one) and intake ports on the 2V manifold & heads that had been enlarged bigger than anything I had ever seen.....I remember my dad (who was Fonzie- literally) just smiling & saying, "yeah, I wouldn't replace these".
The shop that machined the engine (ol timers from the 50's), when they saw the flywheel (which needed to be re-surfaced, etc)...said they didn't want to touch it...they shipped the whole assembly off to Ed Reath for machining & balancing.....Ed sent a message when it was retuned....."I haven't seen one of these in years"
and believe me, when I say the car mechanical wise was a PITA to rebuild....I'm not kidding (just took time to ID the specific parts)... Including the 1.5 ratio rocker arms (yes....you read correct...1.5's...no one including the machinist realized what they were until he was doing the final blue printing on the engine....then Oh Crap!....we ended up doing a special order and Crane made them....IIRR...6 weeks later- partially because they were in the middle of moving their shop and yeah, that cost a couple of bucks)...and I wont go into the distributor...one of about 80 made by BW...or the tranny (front half T10, back half 29 spline) or the diff...
But its a good one...it went the 1st time 220,000 miles!
